Culled from our open call and from Toronto’s legendary “8 Fest”, this program investigates the current state of the glorious if endangered consumer film formart of Super 8mm. Local favourites Damien Ferland, James Pomeroy, Fabian Velasco and Clint Enns stand alongside artists from around the world, at the blistering speed of 18 f/p/s. Still Feeling Blue about Colour Separation dir. Christine Lucy Latimer

This film rephotographs over 200 internet-sourced images of ‘Macbeth ColorChecker’ cards on to super-8mm cyanotype emulsion. Macbeth Cards (precision tools in colour film processing) were a popular accessory for small-gauge Kodachrome filmmakers in the 1970’s. They have since been re-adopted by contemporary digital photographers, who use them to compare lighting scenarios on internet blogs and forums. Tracing the history of the colour calibration card through many lenses, I effectively remove all colours, save one. -CLL

Endless, Nameless is a hand-processed Super 8 film, shot in the private garden of a Thai army officer. The film is constructed from more than twenty years of Mont’s observations and memories about groups of conscripts who worked in his father’s garden. The film was created as a self-hypnosis to reinvestigate his existence. – MT
